Two people died and one person was critically injured following a high-speed crash that ended in the Little Cuyahoga River in Akron, Ohio on Sunday.
The crash took place at 6:12 p.m. when a white Saturn was moving southbound on Case Avenue at a high rate of speed and the driver ran the red light and hit a Chevrolet Cruze at the intersection of Case Avenue and East Market Street.
After the crash, the driver of the Saturn couldn’t hold control of the vehicle, and the vehicle crashed into a concrete barrier before it fell into the canal.
One of the three males was trapped inside the vehicle.
Two others were ejected from the car and were taken out of the water by officials.
A 25-year-old male inside the car succumbed to his injuries at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center.
A 17-year-old male died as well.
A third male was in critical condition.
Arkon police consider speed to be a contributing factor in the crash.
