Two people riding in a horse-drawn carriage were dealing with serious injures and the horse was killed after a car crashed into the back of the carriage on Wednesday.

The crash took place about 9:20 p.m. as the carriage was traveling west on Bowman Road near Milestone Drive, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). The driver of a Ford Focus also moving west crashed into the back of the carriage, which was pushed onto the north shoulder.

The 26-year-old Spring Hill man operating the carriage and a 39-year-old passenger, also of Spring Hill, were dealing with serious injures. The horse died at the scene.

The 19-year-old Brooksville woman driving Ford Focus was not injured.

Troopers mentioned the carriage driver for not having tail lights.

FHP did not reveal the name of those involved in the crash.
