Two killed after car crash in George Washington Highway

Two people were killed following a car crash near the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia.

The Portsmouth Police Department said it was notified of the crash on Wednesday around 1:47 a.m. when two vehicles crashed at the intersection of George Washington Highway and Effingham Street.

When officials attended the scene they found two men who were involved in the incident.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police resumed Effingham Street to traffic in both directions after shutting it for sometime.
