Volkswagen‘s Chief of R&D, Ulrich Hackenberg has confirmed the news that the next generation Phaeton will be delivered in United States shortly after it debuts at Europe.

The reports claim that the next generation Phaeton will be using the same platform like Audi A8, and this new variant will be developed out of Aluminum, so that they can cut off maximum weight of the car, also the car will be shorter, with a shorter wheelbase, expected to be not less than 196 inches long. And to increase the green effects, volkswagen plans to drop off big big displacement engines in favor of smaller ones equipped with several turbochargers, now this is purely a rumour that they will be offering a plug-in hybrid drivetrain and just like the current model, the next Phaeton will be targeted at a low-key Audience.

“The new one will have the same positioning (as the old one): a straightforward sedan for the person who’s successful but doesn’t feel the need to show it. Volkswagen doesn’t change course between generations of a car. It’s always easier to keep the customers you have than to lose them and go find new ones,” said by a company insider.

The next-gen Phaeton will reportedly hit U.S. showrooms in about 2015. Until then enjoy the clicks and stay tuned onto SpeedLux for more information.
