Woman in Florida killed in a single-car crash

A 35-year-old Tampa woman died Wednesday morning after she lost control of her car and crashed while she was moving south on Interstate 75 approaching I-4, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash took place about 8:05 a.m. when the woman’s car left the roadway, entered the west shoulder, and crashed with a light pole and a signpost. It was unclear why she lost control.

The Highway Patrol did not provide the woman’s name as its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, a voter-approved amendment to the state Constitution that was meant to protect victims but that deprives the public of data long available under Florida’s public records law.

Florida saw 400,266 vehicle accidents in 2019.
