An Elizabethton man who was reported missing previously this week died after his vehicle crashed into the Watauga River in Tennessee, according to officials.

An initial report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol says they got the call just before 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13.

The report says 19-year-old Tyler Warren was driving his car north on the 1400 block of Broad Street when he lost control. His vehicle then struck into the river.

The investigating officer said speed was the reason behind the crash. The report says Warren was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.
