2 killed, 2 injured after multi-vehicle crash in Rock Island County

Two people were killed and two injured after a multi-vehicle crash in Rock Island County, Illinois.

The crash took place on Friday, September 16. around 10 p.m. on Interstate 280 near the Quad Cities International Airport.

About three vehicles were involved while traveling westbound on the highway when a Chevrolet stopped in a right lane for an unknown reason before a Ford struck Chevrolet on its rear-end and then a GMC hit the backside of the Ford vehicle.

Two occupants of the Chevrolet and Ford succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

The male driver of GMC and a woman passenger in the Ford had non-life-threatening injuries. 

Identities of the victims were not released.

The crash is being investigated by Illinois State Police.
