All-new Jaguar XJ made its debut just moments ago at the Saatchi Gallery in London.
Current generation XJ body design has been around since the 1970s. When you look at the new XJ you can see that Jaguar has made some dramatic changes, and these changes are not bad. New XJ is gorgeous!
The first thing everyone will notice is the rear and panoramic moonroof, which is standard on every model. Vertical tail lights are probably the main part that people will talk about – they will either love these lights or hate. Sloping roofline gives the car a sporty four-door coupe look.
Interior is also all-new and features a modern cockpit with latest technology. For example new instrumental panel is a digital screen that displays everything driver needs to see. No more traditional dials.
The XJ’s chassis features aluminum construction making it very light compared to competitors. It will be built as a standard XJ and long wheelbase called the XJL.
In Europe entry level model will come with a 3.0-liter V6 diesel. Gasoline engines include a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8, that is good for 385 hp and takes the new XJ/XJL from 0-60 mph(0-96 km/h) in 5.4-seconds.
Jaguar XJ and XJL Supercharged models will use the same engine supercharged to 470 horsepower, 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) comes in 5.2 seconds.
Top of the line model is XJ/XJL Supersport featuring the same 510 hp supercharged V8 found in the XKR. 0-60 mph (0-100 km/h) comes in just 4.7 seconds.
All models come equipped with six-speed shift-by-wire transmission with steering mounted paddles.
