BMW has M3, M5 and even M versions of the X5 and X6. They are also reportedly working on a 1-Series M version, but for some reasons there’s now M7 and very likely won’t be.
The closest thing to an M7 is Alpina B7, which will go on sale at authorized BMW Centers in Spring of 2010. B7 goes against the Audi S8, Porsche Panamera, Jaguar XJR and Mercedes S63/65 AMG when it goes on sale.
Visual changes compared to the standard 7-Series are not big, what matters is the source of power. Under the hood is a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 that gets pumped up to 500 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. 0-60 mph comes in 4.5 seconds, which is very impressive for a big sedan.
Visual changes are small, but very functional. New front spoiler provides 30% more downforce and the rear spoiler while an additional 15%. Other highlights are 20-spoke, 21-inch Alpina wheels and a very luxurious interior.
Want one? 2011 BMW ALPINA B7 will retail for $122,875 (standard wheelbase) and $126,775 (extended wheelbase).
