The convertible muscle car has been introduced today at the LA Auto Show along with its specs. It seems that the convertible, as the coupe will be offered in standard with the same 3.6 l V6 engine that develops 312 BHP and 278 lb/ft of torque. The highway fuel consumption is 29 mpg. The production of this car is set to start in January 2011 and deliveries should start in February. The buyer will have to choose between nine exterior colors with tops offered in tan or black. The price tag for this beauty? $30,000 !
The Camaro SS Convertible will also be available with a 6.2 l V8 engine. The L99 power plant will deliver 400 BHP and 410 lb/ft of torque and will be offered with an automatic transmission. The manual transmission will be mounted to the LS3 engine which develops 426 BHP and 420 lb/ft of torque.
An interesting feature found on the L99 engine is Active Fuel Management System which shuts down half of the cylinders when the car is not under stress. All models can be fitted with the Aisin AY6 six-speed manual transmission (standard on the 3.6-liter V6 engine) or with a Hydra-Matic 6L50 six-speed automatic transmission (offered as an option). On the SS the standard gearbox is the A Tremec TR 6060 six speed gearbox or, as an option, the Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed automatic. All convertible models have rear parking assist.
