The Ford Edge was a vehicle to be liked or hated. Although it did receive much praise in an industry that was more favorable to its Japanese and American rivals, it did manage to do pretty well. At Chicago’s auto show, this week, Ford raised the edge a bit (pun intended).
Welcome to the new 2011 Ford Edge Sport. This new redesigned and updated design featurs the all-new EchoBoost 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine as well as the option for a four-cylinder turbo which promises direct-injection and 20 percent better fuel economy, all without sacrificing economy for performance.
The standard engine is a 3.5-liter V6 (285 horsepower and 253 lb-ft of torque while the Edge Sport will come with an upgraded 3.7-liter Ti-VCT V6 (305 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque).
But the inside is not the only thing that got redesigned as Ford has updated the exterior, mainly the grill which carries the new “bold” trademark Ford is looking for. As for the infotainment center, that now has been upgraded to the centerpiece MyFord Touch which includes an 8.0-inch full-color touch sensitive LCD screen as well as 4.2-inch information panels on either side of the speedometer.
