2011 Ford SZ Territory Recalled For Fuel Line Leak

by Ionut Dragomir

Ford Australia has recalled 3,399 2011 Ford Territory SUVs after a potential fuel line leak was reported.

Ford says certain Ford SZ Territory models (both petrol and diesel) produced between February and July this year and sold between June 2011 to July 2011 are affected by this recall.

According to Australian Competition and Consumer Commission website, affected vehicles could experience a fuel leak coming from the fuel line return hose.

“The fuel return pipe fitted to the vehicle could separate and allow fuel to leak under the vehicle. “

This connection has the potential to disconnect which would result in fuel leaking onto the ground under the vehicle and this could result in a fire hazard.

Of course, Ford will write to owners of affected vehicles and will and will solve the problem at no charge to the customer. However, owners are advised to contact their authorised dealership for inspection and rectification.

Ford Australia’s public affairs director Sinead Phipps (nee McAlary) advised CarAdvice:

“Owners are being contacted and asked to present their vehicle to a Ford dealership to have an additonal retention clip fitted to the fuel return pipe at no charge to the customer.”

For further information, contact any authorised Ford Dealer or Ford’s Customer Relationship Centre on 1800 503 672.
