Many people were worried about Jaguar’s future when Tata Motors bought it from Ford. Having seen the new luxury XJ we love where Jag is heading and can’t wait to see what’s next for Jaguar.
According to Autobild, Jaguar will very likely introduce the successor of the legendary E-Type at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Called XE Roadster it will go against the Mercedes-Benz SLK, BMW Z4 and Porsche Boxster.
Jaguar boss Mike O’Driscoll told Autobild: “We have a great desire to build this car.” The XE will continue the new design line with a fierce look and a distinctive grille. Body of this small roadster will be made of aluminum and rumored engines will include a 5.0-liter V8 with 385 horsepower and in supercharged version an impressive 510 hp.

This photo looks amazing. Looks better than the bmw 6 series, new E cabrio, audi s5 cabrio etc…best looking convertible so far. they better make it as is. This is better looking than the XKR. Wont this car infringe on the XKR sales, or is this the end of the XKR. I’m confused because the XKR is a 4 seater unless they remove the 2 seats, which would be better.
I agree with D.Perrotta, it is certainly amazing…!! =)
Great…Is it a 4 seater?
If you read the article it states “it will go against the Mercedes-Benz SLK, BMW Z4 and Porsche Boxster”.
All of these are 2 seaters and are slotted below the market of the XKR. Based on what is above I’d say it will be a smaller lighter and cheaper (if it plans to compete with the above mentioned anyway) sports car and not a GT like the XK and XKR.
Gorgeous. As drop tops go, can’t compare this styling with anything. I want one!
