The GLK350 Hybrid Pikes Peak Rally Car was seen at the SEMA auto show held in 2008. This was a joint product from Mercedes-Benz and the tuning firm RENNtech. The car went on to win the tuner build off competition at the show. The car also had the distinction of becoming the most sought after performance car after the show. The car has since then taken part in numerous races as well as been displayed at various auto shows.
The car is now going to take its last bow, and fit for the occasion the tuning firm has given it a lavish makeover. The car is also taking part in the tour-of-duty trip in the US. A few weeks ago the event was held at Pittsburgh International Automotive Show wherein a revamped GLK350 Hybrid Pikes Peak Project was officially unveiled to the public. The other cities in the US where the phasing out GLK350 would be making its presence seen are Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Kansas City, Minneapolis, and Denver.
The car would find a place at the Mercedes-Benz Classic Vehicle Museum in Irvine, California, when the tour concludes. This would be the second RENNtech-tuned work to be officially designated with this honor.
The tour schedule and its complete details are available at the RENN-tech’s website.
