2011 Volvo S60 unveiled ahead of Geneva debut

by Ionut Dragomir

Volvo gave us a sneak peak of the new S60 end of last year. Today they released more details and images of this sporty midsize sedan, which will make its public debut in early March at the Geneva Motor Show.

All-new S60 is much sportier and dynamic than the outgoing model.

“The S60 has been sculpted to move you. Every single line in its design is there to transport you both physically and emotionally. Its profile is very coupe-like so that the rear doors come as something of a pleasant surprise when you examine the car close-up,” noted Volvo Cars’ Design Director Peter Horbury.

According to Volvo it is the most driver-oriented car model they have ever presented.

In the U.S. all-new S60 will be offered with the sporty “Dynamic” chassis as standard, while other markets will be offered with a “Comfort” chassis as standard and the “Dynamic” chassis as an option.

All-new S60 is the first sedan with Advanced Stability Control, other highlights are Corner Traction Control for tighter cornering, City Safety which automatically brakes if the driver fails to react in time, New advanced infotainment system and Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto Brake making it the most advanced vehicle ever offered to a Volvo driver.

Top of the range engine offered in the S60 will be a turbocharged 3.0 liter T6 engine that pumps out 300 hp and 325 lb.-ft. of torque. 0-60 mph takes 6.2 seconds and top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph.
