Following the announcement of the new Audi Grand-Am R8 LMS, which will come at 2012 Daytona 24 Hours, a new hardcore car wearing the four-ring badge is now ready for sale.
We’re talking about the Audi TT-RS that, unlike the production 2012 Audi TT RS on which it’s based, this car features a front-wheel drive layout.
We’ve already seen it in action at the hands of of Audi drivers, when it took the first pole position of a front-wheel drive vehicle in the history of Germany’s VLN endurance race series. After this event held in August, the Audi TT RS Race Car went on to take overall victory ahead of rivals with higher power ratings, so this car has proven its skills.
While it comes fitted with the same turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder mill from the production TT RS, with output hovering around 350 horsepower, the key to its performance remains its unique body designed by Audi to supply high downforce.
In addition to this, an adjustable racing suspension kit is also fitted in order to give some extra stability. The power is transferred to the wheels through a sequential six-speed racing transmission with paddle shifters.
Pricing is set at 180,000 euros, which is about $253,234 at current exchange rates.
