2012 BMW 6 SERIES CONVERTIBILE 650i: THE ULTIMATE CRUISER

by SpeedLux

In 2003 BMW caused quite a scene when they first launched the 6 Series. After a long wait and much anticipation an updated model has finally arrived in terms of mechanics, technology, and design. As opposed to its bulky predecessor BMW came out with a much slimmer, sleeker, chiseled but larger design.

BMW further increased the length by 2.9 inches, the wheelbase by 3 inches, and 1.5 inches in width. The reduction in height helped reduce the bulky look. Highlights of the 6 Series Convertible are the luxury of open scenery, reduced fuel consumption, and enhanced performance. BMW’s Active Cruise Control is one of the best safety features. Basically, it reduces the power output from the engine and gently applies the breaks keeping a pre-defined distance

behind the vehicle ahead. Another safety feature is the Adaptive LED Headlights which adapt to steering and speed lighting up the road perfectly.

When it comes to fuel efficiency BMW created what is called the Brake Energy Regeneration that delivers 23mpg. When the driver hits the breaks the generator converts the braking energy into electricity and stores it into the battery. Not only is this system fuel efficient but it also gives full power to the engine for acceleration. Under the hood, is a 4.4 liter Twin-Turbo V8 engine that delivers 400 horsepower. It comes with ZF-supplied 8 speed transmission and goes 0-60mph in 4.9 second. BMW created the new 8
speed Sport Automatic transmission for speed, flexibility, and efficiency.

Standard features include:

– 2 zone automatic climate control with convertible mode
– H-fi audio system with CD player
– AUX-In socket
– Multifunction steering wheel
– Electrically operated front seats with memory function
– Rain sensor with integrated automatic driving lights control

BMW ConnectedDrive features include:

– Lane change and departure Warning System
– Speed limit info.
– BMW night vision
– Rear view camera
– Surround view
– BMW Parking Assistant

BMW’s Head-Up Display made its debut in this convertible which projects driving related information such as current speed and navigation instructions in the driver’s direct field of vision. This 2012 is the ultimate cruiser taking a powerful stance on the road with a safety attitude and a long list of features.
