Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera is a modern version of the Carozzeria Touring coachbuilder that together with Alfa Romeo, releasedthe Alfa Romeo Disco Volante in the early 1950’s , a car that was based on the Alfa 1900. Carozzeria Touring Superleggera will reveal the 2012 Disco Volant concept at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, and this one’s also based on an Alfa, the 8C Competizione supercar to be more exact.
As with all of the Carrozzeria Touring models, this one will also be produced in a very limited number, and will only be available to those who want to have a less than usual, sporty grand tourer, and are ready to pay top dollar for it.
The new body adds new hand-beaten aluminum panels and carbon fiber elements assembled at the Milanese atelier to the one of the 8C. Under the hood you’ll find the same 4.7-liter V8 engine that delivers 443 horsepower and 353 lb-ft of torque.
The power will be transmitted to the drivetrain through a six speed-transaxle gearbox with paddle-shift controllers. The performance, agility and precision of this car will be very much enhanced thanks to the presence of a double-wishbone suspension and ventilated brakes.
This is all we know so far on this concept, but as soon as the press release on the 2012 Disco Volante happens at the Geneva Motor Show, we’ll let you know what else has been said about it.
