2012 Chevrolet Camaro Z28: Here are the spy pics

by Alex

With the badge that indicated the make of the car was hidden it was difficult to make out the car from photo between Camaro shaped vehicles that looks also like a Chevrolet. The bow tie at the door however gave away the make of the car as the Chevy indeed.

With a chance view of the inside it was cleared that this is the Camaro Z28 that has been a subject of rumors and never the reality till now. The car therefore should be charged with a 6.2 liter V8 engine having a six speed automatic gear box. Seems to be the same engine that is fitted on the Cadillac CTS-V which is an LSA power plant rated for 556 hp and 551 lb-ft torque. The corvette has a LS9 V8 engine if we remember. There are chances as yet that the Camaro Z28 would come with a six speed manual gear shift.

The rocker panels have been reshaped and the car has been given a new rear fascia that consists of quad pipes that be sticking out. There is expected to be a mean looking front grille. For wheels the car would have wide Goodyear Eagle F1 tires and some new braking technology.

The competition for this car would come from the Mustang Shelby GT500 which is charged by a 550 hp engine and the Challenger SRT8. There is news that the Challenger SRT8 would go up in engine form the 6.1 to 6.4 liter ones.

It is expected to hit the showrooms as the 2012 model and most probably the launch would be in Detroit in January next year with sales commencing by fall of next year.
