The Americans from Jeep have made a habit out of creating vehicles that could be driven on roads which are almost impossible to walk – let alone drive. They did it again with the 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport. This is quite possibly the best off-road production car in comparison with a professional race one.
The 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport is fitted with a 3.6-liter V6 that is good for 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The power is connected to a five-speed automatic transmission, and the drivetrain is, of course, an all-wheel drive. This model gets 40 percent more horsepower than the old 3.8-liter V6. The fuel consumption has also been improved, the Jeep Wrangler from this year now getting up to 21 mpg.
The interior is now more refined, and gives the impression that it’s not even the one of a Jeep, because the Americans usually make their cars with a rugged interior look and unaesthetic yet enduring parts. The seating is arranged in a 2+2 system.
This car is by far the best production off-road vehicle to have been released so far. It has no problem driving up the steepest, most mud filled roads. On top of everything, its on-road performance is better than expected for a vehicle that is made for the wilderness.
The exterior look doesn’t differ much from any other model of the Jeep family. It wasn’t made for beauty, but rather for functionality.
The 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport has a base price of $22,045, and the options don’t increase the car’s performance by much, so sticking with the standard model would be satisfactory.
