As most of the automakers started creating large crossovers, Mazda makes no exception. The CX-9 is a powerful, all-wheel drive vehicle that also has great performance.
The Mazda CX-9 is powered by a 3.7-liter V6 engine with a power output of 273 horsepower at 6,250 rpm and 270 lb-ft of torque at 4,250 rpm. This engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with a manual shift mode. The CX-9 goes from 0 to 60 in 7.4 seconds. The fuel consumption is fairly high: 16mpg in the city, and 22mpg on the highway.
The CX-9 is pretty heavy, weighing 4,546 lbs, and can tow over 3,500 lbs, which is impressive. The all-wheel drive features Mazda’s Active Torque Split system for sending the right amount of torque to each wheel. The engineers fitted 18 inch wheels as a standard, but there is also a 20 inch option in the Grand Touring model.
There are 7 seats, arranged in a 2+3+2 system. The Grand Touring Model of the CX-9 comes with standard leather seats, eight-way power driver’s seat and Bluetooth connectivity. The trunk has a capacity of 100.7 cu-ft.
Some of the extra options include Mazda’s Moonroof and Bose audio package, navigation package and power liftgate. Without any options, the cost price is about $38,000.
