McLaren has plans to drum up interest in its cars all through North America and they are preparing to do so by parading their 2012 MP4-12C Supercar all across North America dealerships. They have also announced the price of the car officially which is between $225,000 and $250,000 as the starting price.
That is all that McLaren is ready to divulge and one has to guess the car from this one single pointer. With its twin turbo 3.8 liter V8 engine the car is as it is staged to be a performance freak. The power that the engine develops is 440 lb ft of torque. This though should be compared for price against performance with the Ferrari 458 Italia.
McLaren has tried to better the Italia for the driving comfort also and for this has given the MP4-12C a complete carbon fiber chassis. The car has been designed with a flat turbo induced torque curve and has a 7 speed in-house dual-clutch gearbox. With bespoke suspension and traction electronics and a dual-F1-world-champion-tuned setup the car with its 8,500-rpm redline is not just fast but also comfortable.
There is yet the fact that the Italia surpasses the MP4 by way of aesthetics even though the MP4 has scissor doors and gaping side grills. Both have good and competitive looks and personal choice would be the factor for judgment for or against any one of the cars.
