The new ML63 from Mercedes is the most powerful SUV on the market, competing with the BMW X5 and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo. Although it’s got a massive weight of 5000 lb, it still manages to accelerate from 0 to 60 in 4.7 seconds (4.6 with the AMG Performance package installed). It reaches an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (or 174 with the AMD package). This is all possible thanks to the twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 engine that cuts loose an incredible power of 550 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque.
Mercedes’ ML63 for 2012 features Airmatic suspension, Ride Control and Active Curve system, a 7-speed automatic transmission that connects the monstrous power to the all-wheel drive drivetrain, parking assist, adaptive cruise control, active blind spot assist, and pretty much every possible Gizmo you expect to find in a sport utility vehicle.
This SUV is actually so fast that it can sprint faster than some exotic sports vehicles like the Ferrari 360 Modena Spider F1, and also outrun them.
The fuel economy is amazing: 20 mpg combined – Mercedes’ Electronic power steering really does do wonders.
The base cost price hasn’t been officially announced, but word is, it will be about the same as the one of the previous model, so we should expect this vehicle to cost around $93,000.
