While the new generation Porsche 911/991 was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the German car maker has started to test the convertible version. Some previous reports suggested the Cabriolet will feature a folding hardtop, but these spy shots shows that the 911 Cabriolet will come with a canvas soft-top.
From a design point of view, there’s not much to talk about considering that the two models will more or less be the same. However, the 911/991 Cabriolet will receive an updated exterior featuring an even more muscular stance, a new headlamp design, remodeled exterior mirrors, and new wheels.
As for the power, keep in mind that the standard Carrera will get a new 350 hp, 3.4-liter boxer engine, while the 911 Carrera S will come with a 400 hp, 3.8-liter boxer engine – 15 hp more than before. Anyway, the most interesting 911 Cabriolet model is sure to be the the Turbo, which should bring about 530 horsepower when it arrives at the end of next year.
Considering that the car seems almost finished, expect the new 911 Cabrio to debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. Considering that it’s almost finished, we expect to get official images some time before that so stay tuned!
