The Allroad Quattro series is the best solution for those searching to combine the practicality a station wagon model with the higher ground clearance, all-wheel drive and body protection of an SUV is.
As you might know, the urban-offroad combo treatment has been offered for a while now on Audi’s palette of station wagon models, and with releasing of the latest A6 Avant, it was clear that it was only a matter of time before we heard news about an Allroad Quattro model.
Today, spy photographers managed to snap a car what looks to be a completely undisguised prototype of the 2013 Audi A6 Allroad Quattro. However, the bad news is that this is the only photo, and we dont have it in any better quality.
Despite this fact, we still can see that the test model features a jacked up suspension providing a higher road clearance, plastic body armor around the wheel arches, roof rails and what looks to be a skid plate under the rear bumper.
Unfortunately, there’s no way of knowing what lurks under the hood, but we know that the current A6 Avant comes with a choice of six engines (four diesels, two petrols, and all boasting direct fuel injection) and front-drive-only 2.0 TDI boasting 174bhp, 56.5mpg and just 132g/km CO2. Also the other three oil burners are versions of the same 3.0 TDI, with either 201bhp, 241bhp, and 308bhp. The latter boasts two turbos, reach 62mph in 5.4 seconds, and hit the electronic limiter at 155mph with ease.
The only naturally aspirated engine is Audi’s 2.8 FSI unit, while the other petrol unit is the supercharged 3.0 TFSI with 296bhp. As for the 2013 Audi A6 Allroad Quattro, it’s hard to speak about powertrain at this time, but at least one thing it’s clear: it will come with comes with much better performance compared to the current model, which is already a really good car.
Finally, Audi might show the A6 Allroad Quattro either in Frankfurt next month or at the LA auto show in November. The 2013 Audi A6 Allroad Quattro is rumored to have a starting price around € 55-60,000.
