We have already brought you a photo of a completely undisguised 2013 Audi A6 Allroad Quattro prototype, but now the spy photographers were able to take some new shots and we can show them to you.
Unfortunately, this time the 2013 Audi A6 Allroad Quattro prototype was covered up in the usual swirly camouflage seen on other Audi prototypes.
From these latest spy shots we still can see that the test model features a jacked up suspension providing a higher road clearance, plastic body armor around the wheel arches, roof rails and what looks to be a skid plate under the rear bumper.
While the official details are still a mystery we can only suppose that under the hood is the same diesel and gasoline powertrains found in the new Avant combined with the Ingolstadt-based firm’s transmission options and all-wheel drive system.
As a reminder, the current A6 Avant comes with a choice of six engines (four diesels, two petrols, and all boasting direct fuel injection) and front-drive-only 2.0 TDI boasting 174bhp, 56.5mpg and just 132g/km CO2. Also the other three oil burners are versions of the same 3.0 TDI, with either 201bhp, 241bhp, and 308bhp. The latter boasts two turbos, reach 62mph in 5.4 seconds, and hit the electronic limiter at 155mph with ease. The only naturally aspirated engine is Audi’s 2.8 FSI unit, while the other petrol unit is the supercharged 3.0 TFSI with 296bhp.
Considering that Audi decided not to expose its A6 Allroad Quattro in Frankfurt, it should make its appearance at one of the upcoming international motor shows and reach dealers sometime in the second half of 2012. The 2013 Audi A6 Allroad Quattro is rumored to have a starting price around € 55-60,000.
