The Mondeo model is the market for quite some time and dust began to settle on it, so the American car maker decided to revive it in order to meet the new standards of the market.
In addition to the previous spy shots revealing some mules and even a real prototype of the upcoming 2013 Ford Mondeo / Fusion in sedan shape, now we have a new set of photos for you. However, this time we’re not talking about the sedan version, thanks to the spy photographers who managed to take some shots with the upcoming Ford Mondeo / Fusion in wagon shape. The mule was spotted testing in the snowy Alps and we are here to show you the very first details of the new model. Still, keep in mind that this is just a test mule and the final model will make its debut in another form.
Very few details are available at this time, but the design for the Mondeo/Fusion is said to be leaning on the Ford Evos Concept revealed in Frankfurt during the Car Show in September, making this car a little more aggressive in terms of design. These styling elements includes the angular headlamps as well as the trapezoidal front grille and cooling apertures.
As for the powertrain, expect the new Ford Fusion to take its power from Ford’s new EcoBoost engines such the 2.0-liter I-4 used by the Explorer and the Edge.
It’s still not clear if the wagon version also will be offered in the U.S., but in Europe it’s the most sold version. So maybe the U.S. market is ready for the wagon version of the Fusion this time. What we are pretty sure of is that there will be a Hybrid version offered shortly after the debut.
Expect the new model to debut at the next year’s Detroit Auto Show.
