Although not the best looking car at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, the 2013 Lexus RX does bring some interesting changes to its exterior design. It is part of the CUV segment, which is a growing market (especially in the U.S.). Looking sportier than ever, the Lexus RX has won its right to get a review that focuses solely on the exterior design. First thing’s first: the front fascia. The 2013 RX comes with a new, lower grille and headlamps assembly, both of which make it look more aggressive. There are LED daytime running lights that go by the “L” design present all around the rest of the vehicle (including the rear lamps). Fog lamps are also included in the front bumper, which is now placed lower. Standard wheels are 18-inchers, which are emphasized by the lower body. The optional Sport Appearance Package brings 19-inch wheels with superchrome finish, a special front bumper and halogen headlamps. Thanks to the broader shoulders of the RX, this crossover now looks both more spacious and luxurious, and, at the same time, sportier. There are both front and rear fenders that are integrated into the doors. An entry sill has also been incorporated, so that the passengers don’t ever have to step in mud. The door handles twist outward from the front to the rear, in order to get a comfortable grip. The side mirrors features LED turn signal lamps. The rear spoiler’s main function is to reduce the Drag Coefficient, although it also incorporated the Radio Antenna, wiper and stop lamp.
