The 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class was caught while it was being tested on the Nurburgring track. Right after the shape of the car was made public, the one thing that AMG fans were concerned about was about the performance of the car, fitted as it is with the new 5.5-liter V8 engine. As far as the images of this car are concerned, compared to the regular roadster, it comes with visibly larger air intakes while the shape of its front spoiler is different too. The car’s nose reminds us of both the SLS and the CLS while the overall proportions are quite similar to the SL.
As for the view from the side, what catches the eye are the larger wheels that conceal huge brake rotors and updated calipers. Then there are four trapezoidal exhausts at the back. The lines of this diffuser are more angular, making it more remarkable. The exhaust looks exactly like the CLS, giving the car a modern look.
On the engine front, the SL63 AMG is almost certain to get the new 5.5-liter twin-turbo AMG V-8 which can generate up to 571 hp, thereby giving it a little more power than the next M6 if the M5’s 560 hp 4.4-liter V8 engine is used. We are yet to know when Mercedes will debut the AMG version but the regular SL-Class is expected to be shown in Frankfurt within the next months. Mercedes-Benz does not bring their performance models to auto shows. The SL63 AMG is expected to arrive at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.
