Peugeot has officially revealed the RCZ R production version ahead of the car’s public debut scheduled at Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend.
A preview concept version was shown at last year’s Paris Motor Show and now the company is ready for the production version which is powered by a 1.6-liter THP engine that develops 270 hp (201 kW) at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 330 Nm (243 lb-ft) from 1,900 rpm. It enables the model to sprint to 0-62 mph (0-100 kmph) in less than 6 seconds and comes with an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph (249 kmph).
Compared to the RCZ THP 200 hp which was the previous range-topping model, the R version is now lighter by 17 kg (37 lbs) and so it tips the scales at 1,280 kg (2,821 lbs). The company claims RCZ R can return 44.8 mpg UK (37.3 mpg US or 6.3 liters / 100 km) in the combined cycle and has CO2 emissions of 145 g/km.
The interior cabin comes fitted with Nappa/Alcantara-wrapped bucket seats, smaller steering wheel and gearshift lever with aluminum knob. The model comes with exterior paint schemes that include Nera Black, Moroccan Red, Opal White and Mercury Grey.
The model will go on sale in early 2014, after being showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September.
