2014 Bentley Continental GT3 to compete in the British GT Championship

by SpeedLux

The racing debut of the Bentley Continental GT3 is coming nearer and now David Appleby Engineering has recently made an announcement that they will become the first customer racing team to take delivery of the model.

Set to compete under the Generation Bentley Racing banner, James Appleby and Steve Tandy will be behind the wheels in the British GT Championship. If everything falls in place according to the plan, the car will make its racing debut at Oulton Park on April 19th next year.

In a statement, Bentley Motorsport Director Brian Gush said that he was delighted that David and his team will be competing with the Continental GT3 in their home country in coming year. The team has a wealth of experience and that they were confident that their energy and professionalism will see some very encouraging results next year.

Just to recap, the Continental GT3 comes equipped with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine generating an output of 600 hp (447 kW). It is further mated to a six-speed Xtrac sequential transmission which should ensure the 1,300 kg (2,866 lbs) race car is considerably faster than its road-going counterpart.
