2014 BMW M3 engine sound teased

by SpeedLux

BMW has recently released a teaser video of the 2014 M3 / M4 Coupe by offering a glimpse of the all-new straight-six soundtrack.

In the clip we get to hear the sound generated by the S55 six-cylinder 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine which is alleged to generate output of somewhere around 450 hp (335 kW) and 405 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque. It should enable both cars to achieve the sprint of 0-62 mph (0-100 kmph) in just 4.2 seconds and would come with an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph (250 kmph).

Previously, the Managing Director of BMW M Performance Automobiles Friedrich Nitschke had stated that the new M3 and M4 Coupe are expected to arrive at next year’s North American International Auto Show. The company will probably reveal a concept M3 or M4 Coupe at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance later this week.

Currently not much detail is available but we can expect both cars to have an aluminum hood (with power dome) and optional carbon fiber roof and trunk lid. The new M duo will benefit from a torque vectoring differential and a newly developed traction management system which will provide the cars with great traction. This is BMW’s way to avoid implementing an AWD setup which would have altered steering and added 80 kg (176 lbs).
