2014 BMW X4 spied testing in Munich

by SpeedLux

A prototype of the 2014 BMW X4 has been caught on camera undergoing testing in Munich in Germany, ahead of an expected January 2014 reveal at NAIAS.

BMW had introduced the X4 nameplate in April with an appealing concept at the Shanghai Motor Show and now they are getting ready to launch the production model. The car that one would find in the showrooms will be more conservative in terms of design but nevertheless it should still be a desirable crossover.

The prototype will ride on the X3 platform so it is expected that it would carry its engine lineup, including a 4-cylinder 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo that can generate 240 hp (179 kW). There will also be a beefier inline-six 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo producing 300 hp (224 kW), along with a 4-cylinder 2.0-liter diesel that can generate 184 hp (135 kW).

The mini X6 will be manufactured at the plant in Spartanburg in South Carolina and is expected to go on sale somewhere next year in 2014.

More info about the model is expected to be revealed at the time of the launch in January 2014.
