BMW continues to performing various types of testing for the X4 as the crossover was spied recently testing on the tracks of Nürburgring.
The X4 Concept was earlier unveiled in this year during the 2013 Auto Shanghai Show and now the Bavarian marque is about to launch its production version. This time a prototype was spied testing ahead of what could probably be an early 2014 market launch, following a possible reveal at NAIAS in Detroit.
In terms of designing, the car will essentially look pretty much similar to a smaller X6 and will be underpinned by the same platform used on the X3 compact crossover. Talking about the interiors, the cabin will probably very much resemble the X3 but with several additional goodies from the M Performance catalog.
Under the hood, power is expected to be generated from a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo engine delivering 240 hp (179 kW) and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque, as well as from a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter diesel mill outputting 184 hp (135 kW) and 280 lb-ft (380 Nm) of torque. There are chances of a more powerful TwinPower Turbo inline-six mill as well with output of 300 hp (224 kW) and 300 lb-ft (406 Nm) of torque.
