2014 Citroen Cactus concept revealed

by SpeedLux

Citroën has officially revealed the Cactus concept which will be a preview for upcoming C-line models.

Drawing inspiration from the 2007 C-Cactus concept, the company wanted a car with styling that is both, aesthetic as well as practical. The concept comes with “Airbumps” on the sides which represent a supple material that can resist to scratches and also incorporate air capsules which absorb impacts. Citroën claims that it’s a compact hatchback with a ground clearance of 21cm and with the dimensions of 4.21m long, 1.75m wide and height of 1.53m.

Talking about the interiors, there is a seven-inch screen which has replaced the instrument cluster, while the conventional control buttons have been removed to make room for an eight-inch touchscreen. Amusingly, the passenger airbag is installed on the car ceiling, and the conventional gear stick has been replaced by push-button controls.

The company however did not reveal about the specs, but confirmed that the power comes from a new iteration of the firm’s Hybrid Air system which includes a PureTech engine and it will enable the Cactus to have a fuel consumption of less than 3 liters / 100 km (78.4 mpg US or 94.1 mpg UK).
