2014 Ford F-150 receives CNG/LPG version

Ford has recently made an announcement of their plains to sell the 2014 F-150 with compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquid petroleum gas (LPG) options.

However the vehicles won’t be fitted with CNG/LPG options straight from the factory and they would have to be in fact fitted with a separate fuel system by a Ford Qualified Vehicle Modifier. Depending on the size of the fuel tank, this procedure of fitting the tanks will cost from 7,500 to 9,500 USD. The Blue Oval says that an F-150 can travel for 750 miles (1,207 km) with a single tank of gas which means it will average the equivalent of 23 mpg on the highway.

The CNG/LPG package is available for the V6 3.7-liter engine currently and comes with hardened valves, pistons, rings and valve seats so it can run on gasoline or natural gas. However the client would be required to pay 315 USD to prepare the engine before the Ford Qualified Vehicle Modifier installs the fuel tank, fuel lines and bespoke fuel injectors.

Well it’s a good idea by Ford and the customers would consider this option as to how cost effective it is and if it’s worth, people will go for it for the given cost.
