Ford Motors have got many praises and has also bagged a lot of success for its Transit Connect van, and now they are in the plans to launch a seven-passenger Transit Connect Wagon in the North American market. Ford says the Transit Connect Wagon “drives like a car, has the flexibility of a utility and can haul the payload of a full-size pickup.” Ford also expects the Transit Connect Wagon to be the first seven-passenger vehicle to receive an EPA rating of 30mpg or better on the highway.
“Transit, Connect Wagon gives young families and people on the go the fun-to-drive and efficient vehicle they’ve been looking for,” said Mark Fields, Ford’s President of The America. “It’s an all-new, smaller seven-seater that has better mileage than larger vans and creates a segment of its own. Customers also will love the unique combination of style, adaptability and affordability this wagon brings.”
They claim that in addition to the wagon, they will be offering the Transit Connect Wagon as shorter wheelbase, five-passenger vehicle, and the trims will include XL, XLT and Titanium, also the Transit Connect Wagon will be offered with cloth, vinyl and leather seating surfaces. The New Connect wagon will be featuring Ford’s 2.5L four-cylinder, but a 1.6L EcoBoost mill promising better than 30mpg on the highway will also be available. Both engines will be hooked to a six-speed automatic transmission. Apparently the Transit Connect Wagon is capable of carrying a 1, 200-pound payload, and the wagon can also tow up to 2,000 pounds, which Ford notes is 500 pounds more than a four-cylinder Toyota Highlander.
