Holden has recently announced its plans to offer a Barina RS for the markets of Australia.
The model is expected to go on sale later in this year. The Barina RS will come fitted with an aerodynamic body kit that includes features such as modified bumpers, revised side skirts and a larger rear spoiler. In the interiors, the model will come fitted with features that include sport seats, a flat bottom steering and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Holden did not reveal specifications about the model but it is indicated that the model is essentially a rebadged Chevrolet Sonic RS so it will likely use a turbocharged 1.4-liter Ecotec four-cylinder engine that would generate an output of 138 hp (103 kW) and 148 lb-ft (200 Nm) of torque. Regardless of what the final output is Holden says that their engineers have fine-tuned the electric power steering system to better suit the local tastes.
The Barina RS will start arriving at dealerships in November this year and we believe that the pricing should be announced closer to launch of the model. We can also expect further details to be revealed when the launch nears and so we would update you at that time about the Barina RS.
