Honda is previewing the S660 concept just ahead of a public debut at the Tokyo Motor Show to be held in the coming month.
Described as an open-top sports-type mini-vehicle, the S660 looks pretty much like the EV-STER concept from 2011 but can be distinguished with a conventional engine in the form of a small 660cc three-cylinder turbocharged motor producing just 64 hp (48 kW) and linked to a seven-speed CVT. The company has not revealed the exact weight figure yet but it’s most likely going to be in the range of 900 kg (1,984 lbs).
The concept will be very soon converted into a production version with a fully retractable roof sometime in the year 2015 but it will be sold only in Japan. However, some reports are indicating that there could be an export version as well that would be equipped with a bigger 1.0-liter turbo engine generating an output of 100 hp (74 kW) which could happen sometime in the future.
The S660 concept will be exhibited at Honda’s stand along with a production version of the Urban SUV and the recently revised Acura NSX concept.
