In the latest news, the first images of the Mercedes-Benz CLA Class have leaked onto the web prior to the car’s world debut at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show next month, and the sources say that after months of preliminary info, rumors, spy photos and videos, we finally get to see the CLA before its arrival at 2013 NAIAS. Looking fairly attractive, the baby CLS has inherited a lot of its design cues from the Style Concept Coupe, including the “floating dots” front grille.
The new Mercedes Benz CLA will be based on Daimler’s MFA platform, underpinning not only the A-class, the B-class, and the CLA, but also a crossover SUV and “at least one other model,” according to Daimler. The CLA will be closer to the A-class than to any other variation of the MFA platform, sharing front architecture and many styling elements. The CLA is about 4.60 meters (181.1 inches) long and will be offered at first with three gasoline engines and a diesel: CLA 180 with 122 HP (90 kW), CLA 200 with 156 HP (115 kW), CLA 250 with 211 HP (155 kW) and the more frugal CLA 220 CDI with 170 HP (125 kW), the company has already confirmed a new type of 4MATIC all-wheel drive system for the CLA. In next year the company will unveil the range-topping A45 AMG which is rumored to come with a 2.0-liter turbo four that will produce around 350 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque.
The model will go on sale in the United States next year after a big ad campaign push during Super Bowl XLVII in February, so stay tuned in, for more updates and click through the pictures.
