Saleen has taken the wraps off the 2014 George Follmer Edition Mustang at Laguna Seca this weekend as part of the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.
Saleen has already released teaser images of a new model few days ago but it was not very clear if the same was the already confirmed supercar or any other car but now it is clear that the image was of a custom Mustang which paves the way for the Saleen Heritage Collection.
The first model is a tribute to an important race driver of the 60s and 70s who ran the Indianapolis 500, competed in F1 with the Shadow team in 1973, participated in the races of the NASCAR’s Winston Cup and was also a Can-Am champion in 1972.
In terms of the exteriors, the car comes with a tri-color paint scheme and takes its styling inspiration from the 1962 Boss 302 racer driven by Follmer. It sits on 19-inch alloy wheels and comes fitted with a naturally-aspirated V8 engine producing an estimated output of 470 hp (350 kW) delivered through a six-speed manual gearbox.
The 2014 George Follmer Edition Mustang is already available on order with deliveries starting late this fall. The model would come with a price tag of about 75,000 USD.
