Toyota has finally officially unveiled the 2014 4Runner after releasing a series of teasers earlier. The car was unveiled at 2013 Stagecoach Music Festival near Palm Springs, California.
The latest Toyota 4Runner will be available in the same three trim levels as before: SR5, Limited and Trail. The customers have an option to go for 4×2 or 4×4 configurations as they want.
The vehicle will come with a 4.0-liter V6 engine capable of producing 270 hp (201 kW) and 278 lb-ft (376 Nm) of torque. The engine will be connected to a 5-speed ECT-I automatic transmission. As per the company, the vehicle is capable of returning an EPA-estimated 17 mpg for city / 23 mpg for highway for the 4×2 variant and 17 mpg for city / 22 mpg for highway for the 4×4 model. It has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds and all the models would benefit from an integrated tow-hitch receiver and wiring harness.
The latest model comes with an updated interior cabin with a multi-information display, new Optitron gauges and a few modifications in terms of trim. Other goodies that form part of the latest version include the firm’s Entune infotainment and an in-glass antenna which replaces the old mast unit. The customers have an option to fit a 7-inch display part of the navigation system but at an extra cost.
The two versions SR5 and Limited are available with third-row seating, while the former gets as standard an 8-way power driver seat. Limited model comes with a leather-trimmed interior with ventilated driver/front passenger seats which are also 8-way power-adjustable for the driver and 4-way for the front passenger. The second row of seats has a 40/20/40 configuration and a one-touch walk-in function which grants easier access to the third row.
