Audi has struck back with vengeance after losing the Constructors Championship title by just 5 points to Porsche, by revealing the car that it hopes would take bring it’s title dreams to reality. The car will compete in the premier LMP1 Hybrid class of the WEC and is going to be one of the meanest machines that have ever rolled out of an Audi factory.
We don’t have full specifications yet, but the new 2016 Audi R18 LMP1 prototype will definitely have a big boost in power over it’s predecessor. According to Audi, the 2016 R18 is the most powerful race car that they’ve ever manufactured, with the car also being touted as the most efficient. With bettered aerodynamic features, lighter materials and a modified hybrid system, the 2016 Audi R18 has also seen significant improvements as far as the Turbocharged 4.0 Liter V-6 Diesel Engine goes.
Testing for this car will start taking place at the Sebring circuit from December. Audi has stated that they’re going to go ahead in 2016 with the same drivers as the last time and will only be competing with two cars.
