2016 Hyundai Equus Spotted

It was reported before that the land of Scandinavia was becoming the new playground for automakers from around the world to test their upcoming vehicle models. Well, after quite a decent number of automakers and their vehicles had been spotted testing in this country before, there is yet another automaker spotted testing the prototype of its new vehicle model. This time, it is Hyundai’s turn and its upcoming Equus model to get spotted while undergoing some tests at the Scandinavian soil.

Sure, the prototype was covered in heavy camouflage when it was caught on camera. However, it did not prevent prying eyes from suspecting that it would be the next generation, the 2016/2017 Hyundai Equus. In addition to that, the camouflage also unfortunately reveals that the flagship vehicle from the South Korean automaker will be coming with an upright grille. On that note, the front grille of the vehicle will be flanked by the newly designed and distinctively looking headlamps. Door mounted exterior side mirrors are well noticeable, too, besides dual exhaust pipes and large taillights. Additionally, what is also worth mentioning about the car is that its pillars and roof seem to be inspired heavily by the Chrysler 300 vehicle model.

So far, Hyundai remains coy in terms of what its upcoming Equus will offer, including the technical specifications. Yet, the vehicle is expected to boast at least 420 bhp of power and 518 Nm of torque. This power and torque will allegedly come from a 5.0L V8 engine that will be mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox as well as a new all-wheel-drive (AWD) drivetrain, with the latter being optional.

There have also been some speculations on the interweb that the 2016/2017 Hyundai Equus we are seeing here will be making its world debut at this year’s New York Auto Show event as a concept vehicle.
