Whereas most automakers around the world are testing the prototypes of their upcoming vehicle lineups at Scandinavia, KIA, an automaker from South Korea, has chosen the Arctic Circle to be its playground. Very recently, a test mule has been spotted and it seemingly features a tiger nose front grille typical of modern day KIA vehicles. It is believed that this test mule will actually be the 2016/2017 KIA Sportage.
For car enthusiasts, especially fans of the KIA brand, it really will not take that long at all to recognize that this will be the next generation Sportage crossover from the company. The shape is familiar, yet it now features a new design for its front fascia while at the same time retaining the tiger nose front grille. The test mule can also be seen coming with a set of headlamps that looks different when compared to the one available on the present generation KIA Sportage. In addition to that, the rear doors of the vehicle seem to be longer this time around. Yet, as for the rear taillights, they are covered in heavy camouflage. The same also applies to the rear fascia of the South Korean vehicle.
Beneath the engine bay, buyers of the next generation KIA Sportage will be able to expect an array of new engines, both in diesel and petrol variants. Well, to tell the truth, official information about the engines has yet to become available. However, the car will most likely come with either a 1.2L 4-cylinder T-GDi engine, a 1.6L T-GDi engine or a 2.0L T-GDi engine. At their peak performance, these engines will burst out a total power output of 132 bhp, 204 bhp and 245 bhp, respectively.
Until this article is written, there is no news yet as to when the 2016/2017 KIA Sportage will appear for the very first time ever before the public’s eyes.
