The 2016 Lincoln MKX is known to be well underway but so far, the company has yet to release any official images of the car. Now, a number of images that depict what the car will look like both inside and outside and what it will potentially offer to its buyers have come online. These images have been leaked shortly before the 2015 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) kicks off in Detroit, US.
The car was actually previewed already some time ago by its concept version. Now, the final production version spotted on the leaked images can be seen coming with a split wing front grille. In addition to that, the front fascia of the vehicle looks even more attractive thanks to a pair of LED headlamps.
Designed as a crossover, the car also features muscular fenders on its rear fascia, a panoramic glass roof and plastic body cladding. Other elements that also stand out quite clearly on the vehicle include a dual exhaust pipe configuration, wraparound taillights and also a Lincoln badge. The latter is quite a unique feature as it will move away to give way to a sensor when the vehicle requires the sensor to do its job.
A significant upgrade can be seen on the interior of the 2016 Lincoln MKX. It now comes with premium quality materials put into combination with a modern day design. Paying attention to the leaked images, it is not hard to notice metallic accents, wood trim and leather upholstery available inside the cabin of this next generation MKX by Lincoln. The car even comes with a seemingly floating center console, a stylish instrument panel and also an enhanced vehicle infotainment system. A Revel audio system will supposedly be included as well for the sake of intuitive technologies and uncompromising acoustics.
Considering that the Lincoln MKX bases its chassis on the Ford Edge, chances are, the car will come with a 2.7L V6 EcoBoost engine from Ford. The engine releases the power of 300 horses and power can be sent either to the rear wheels only or to all wheels.
