2016 Nissan Maxima Previewed

by David Bond

Virtually everyone in the US is talking about the upcoming Super Bowl event. Due to the high interest in the event, a lot of automakers have tried to gain advantage of the momentum by showing off their vehicles in some Super Bowl commercials of sorts. The Japanese automaker, Nissan, is no exception to this, either. The company has actually decided to preview its next generation Maxima model in a new commercial that airs while the Super Bowl XLIX event is taking place.

The 2016 Nissan Maxima was actually first spotted during the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) event that took place last year. Back then, it was shown off to the public by Nissan as a Sport Sedan concept. Today, however, the vehicle has already become an official production car and is designated for the year 2016. For the Super Bowl commercial, the Japanese automaker in question previews the new Maxima in a rather emotional commercial themed ‘With Dad’. This commercial was shown off to the public just a night earlier, the same time the company fully unveiled its GT-R LM NISMO.

When it comes to the 2016 Nissan Maxima, it is really not similar in appearance when compared to the predecessor. Unfortunately, though, in spite of that, there is quite a good chance that a handful of car enthusiasts out there will not really fancy the design of the vehicle. Yet, this is not at all that surprising, considering that Jose Munoz, Chairman Nissan North America, already pointed out last year that the next generation Maxima would look very much alike the concept they previewed at the 2014 NAIAS event.

So far, Nissan is still coy when it comes to revealing the technical specifications of the vehicle. Nonetheless, word on the web is that the 2016 Nissan Maxima will pack a 3.5L V6 engine under its hood. This engine is supposedly capable of 260 bhp in terms of power output. For official details, however, perhaps it is best to wait for this year’s New York Auto Show to kick off. The event in question is slated for April 1, 2015.
