Applauded for its distinct, ingenious styling modifications, “Vapor” a relentless, 785-hp restomod ’65 Mustang Fastback crafted by well-known builder RoadsterShop, has made a prominent “Special Recognition Award” from Ford Design.
In a presentation made at the 2016 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the award acknowledges an “Outstanding Achievement in Design.” The Ford Design awards, provided each year at SEMA, recognize and honor tasks and builders showcasing the finest elements of aftermarket design. The awards highlight each task’s inspiring and emotional components, along with craftsmanship.
VAPOR restomod Mustang is the outcome of a two-year build, commissioned by a Southern California-based enthusiast and collector, who conceived the task and supervise its significant design and production details.
Revealed in a monochromatic paint plan including Ford’s Avalanche Gray, Vapor is both enormous yet understated. Ford’s design team explained the 1965 Mustang Fastback as the “Purest of the Breed,” and in keeping with that style, determined Vapor’s extraordinary design features, consisting of:
* Flush installed custom developed and machined door handles.
* Integrated rear tail panel with flush installed LED tail, brake and back-up lights.
* Fender flares that offer it a large and aggressive position.
* Recessed and flush mounted renowned rear quarter window louvers.
* Custom-made interior drawing inspiration for the historic Ford GT40.
The Ford Design group was likewise impressed with the integration of these adjustments into what they referred to as “Supercar performance capabilities.”
Along with Vapor’s innovative styling, the restomod is powered by Edelbrock’s most recent and most powerful E-Force turbo charged Ford 5.0 liter Coyote created engine. The motor produced an impressive 785 hp and 660 ft-lbs. of torque at the flywheel when evaluated at the Edelbrock dyno center. Its 9.5:1 compression ratio, still permitting it to operate on premium pump gas.
Vapor sits on a RoadsterShop custom-made and hand-fabricated chassis and suspension system that permits the vehicle to successfully transfer all that horsepower to the ground. Breaking stems from 6-Piston Baer’s with large slotted and drilled rotors.
The Roadster Shop team devoted many hours, precision painstaking workmanship and innovative style techniques in the production of bespoke elements in the advancement of this special car.
