Honda provided some information on the next-gen Accord previously this month, and now it’s providing first glance of the midsizer’s front end with a new teaser sketch. Along with that, the automaker announced that the 2018 Honda Accord will be introduced on July 14 in Detroit.
In the sketch, the Accord uses Acura-like headlights with LED projectors and vertical lighting components that resemble the Honda high-end department’s “Jewel Eye” lamps. The grille includes a horizontal chrome bar just like the Civic’s, and the lower valance has a reverse-trapazoidal shape. The whole front fascia seems lower, providing the car a smooth, stylish appearance.
The rest of the vehicle is obscured by shadow, however we understand from camouflaged models that the 10th-gen Accord will get a more raked roofline. Honda unveiled the next Accord’s powertrain lineup in early June, verifying that the V-6 engine option will be dropped to support a turbocharged 2.0-liter I-4 derived from the unit discovered in the new Civic Type R. The range-topping engine will be tuned for low-end torque and will not need premium fuel. The Accord will likewise get the 1.5-liter turbo-four as a standard engine, and the Accord Hybrid will utilize a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter I-4. The engines will come combined to either Honda’s new 10-speed automatic transmission, a six-speed manual, or a CVT.
Honda will transmit the 2018 Honda Accord’s unveiling live on YouTube at 11:00 am EST on July 14.
