Hyundai stated its brand-new B-segment crossover is named the Kona, and now it’s Kia’s chance to preview its own entry into this classification. The Kia Stonic, teased in these sketches, will show up in international markets by the end of 2017.
It’s pretty clear the illustrations don’t reveal the final version of the Stonic, thinking about the size of those wheels, to name a few. But the sketches hopes possibility for anew grille, headlights, and taillights along with a sculpted body and sweeping roofline. Kia states the model includes a low center of gravity, which would make it just like the Kona.
Instead of calling its small crossover after another Hawaiian island, Kia obtained inspiration from music. Stonic integrates the words “Speedy” and “Tonic,” which refers the first and last note in the musical scale. “Therefore, ‘Stonic’ suggests that the car is agile and provides something new and fresh in the compact SUV segment,” Kia stated in a news release.
Looking at the interior, Kia reveals a big infotainment screen that rests on the center dash. The sketch previews a basic interior decoration with very few additional buttons and knobs.
The Kia Stonic will go on sale worldwide in the second half of this year. It is anticipated to rival the models such as the Mazda CX-3, Honda HR-V, Chevrolet Trax, and Toyota C-HR. Kia isn’t really saying if the Stonic will arrive the U.S. market, but its Kona sibling has been confirmed for launch in the U.S. in early 2018 after a preliminary debut for the Korean market.
